The Truth about Language Learning

(That the Apps don’t want you to know 🤫)

Discover 3 expert secrets to speaking French fluently with tips from 6pm in Paris founders Julien & Léa.

The Language Learning Industry is Misleading Everyone

You’ve seen the ads: “Learn French in 3 weeks! Fluency in 3 months! Just spend 10 minutes a day on an app, and voilà, you’re bilingual.”
Here’s the truth: learning a language is not a quick hack—it’s a lifelong journey. There are ways to progress fast, but swiping on an app and talking to an AI bot isn’t one of them.

Why Apps Won't Make You Fluent

Language apps are not built to help you truly learn languages. They’re built to scale—selling the same copy-paste formula for every language, prioritizing gamification over real-world skills, and tapping into people’s dreams (and naivety) for profit.
They know full well that you won’t actually become fluent—but as long as you keep coming back, they’re winning.

Trust the Teachers, not the Tech Industry

Should you trust a company trying to sell you a one-size-fits-all solution? Or two people who have actually taught thousands of students how to learn French?
We’re not business people with MBAs looking to cash in on the latest language-learning trend. We’re language teachers.
Between us, we have over 20 years of experience helping students navigate the messy, exciting, and deeply personal process of learning a new language. We’ve spent thousands of hours in classrooms, guiding real people—just like you—through the frustrations, breakthroughs, and little victories that come with mastering French.
And we know what it’s like to be in your shoes. We’ve been language learners ourselves. Julien speaks five languages, has a master’s in linguistics, and has lived in Japan, learning the language from scratch. Léa built Coucou French Classes, one of the most successful French schools in the U.S. and has spent years designing programs that actually work.

We’re Here to Challenge the Status Quo

At 6pm in Paris, we’re done with the industry’s false promises. We won’t sell you a magic shortcut, but we will give you the tools to actually understand and speak French—the way it’s meant to be learned.
